Is your child learning to read and/or spell short vowel words? Here are some tracing and spelling pages to reinforce short vowel words. It’s a perfect complement to Short Vowel Stories, also free on this blog.

These come in FOUR sets.

The first set has the picture matching the word. Starting dots help your child know where to begin each letter.

The great thing about tracing rhyming words (such as hat, mat, bat) is that your child gets repeated practice writing the letters in each word family.

The second set allows your child to read the word, draw a line to the matching picture, and then trace the word.

The third set helps you child begin spelling the words. Help your child segment the word and fill in the missing letter.

The fourth set allows your child to spell the words.

All the words and pictures are taken from Short Vowel Stories, so as your child works through the stories and word families, you can supplement with the tracing pages and/or the spelling pages.
