Here’s a FREE set of Autumn – themed spelling worksheets for students in grades 2-3. Each season, we take a break from our regular spelling program and use high-interest word lists instead. This gives my son a review of previously learned spelling rules, and sometimes gives a preview of new rules to come. More importantly, it gives him an opportunity to learn words that are meaningful.

Here is a list of all the words in this Autumn-themed set:

This set is differentiated so students of different abilities can practice the same set of words. At the easiest level, students read and trace the words. Word-mapping boxes help students segment each word properly.

Next, students can spell each word using word maps or spelling frames. The pictures help students remember the word they are spelling– very helpful for students who are easily distracted or have difficulty with short-term memory. My son usually spells the words first with spelling tiles and then copies it into these sheets:

Once he can spell the words using the spelling frames independently, he spells the words without the spelling frames.
